Our Cha Cha Dance Lessons In Toronto teach this social (partner) dance which originally came from Cuba and was named for the sound of a dancer’s feet on the floor as they make the steps.

Cha Cha is often danced in a relaxed style as a social dance, but is also one of the 5 Standard Latin dances in the International style of dance competitions. It was originally danced to authentic Cuban music, but many people nowadays prefer using Latin Pop or Latin Rock music. There are also quite a few good remixes of popular non-latin songs which have been adapted to a Cha-Cha beat.

WHAT TO WEAR

For beginner classes, just comfortable clothes and shoes. Women may want to wear heels, but this is not required and height should be limited to below 2″ or they will make it significantly more difficult to learn.

If you get more serious, you may wish to invest in a proper set of latin dance shoes. These are designed to allow freedom of movement, while also subtly guiding your body’s mechanics into the proper form. Latin dance shoes will generally be soled in suede leather to allow their wearer to do turns and spins more easily.
