Welcome! Our classes run from Base Level (Intro) to Level 5 (Advanced). We’ve given every level clear, measurable criteria so you always know exactly what to expect — and when you’re ready to move up. (These levels apply only to our faculty classes, not to out-of-faculty pop-ups.)
Consider a higher level if: you can follow along with basic steps on the beat without needing every movement demonstrated slowly.
Consider a higher level if: you can perform your basic steps without watching the instructor, and hold 2 counts of 8 in your memory.
Consider a higher level if: your transitions feel smooth, and half counts don’t throw you off.
Consider a higher level if: you can pick up 6 counts of 8 at a normal teaching pace and execute syncopated timing without it being re-explained.
Consider a higher level if: you can retain 8 counts of 8 taught quickly, self-correct without instructor feedback, and perform with dynamics, not just accuracy.
This is the top level — growth here means depth: cleaner execution, stronger identity as a dancer, and versatility across styles.
| Level | Choreography length | Timing complexity | Breakdown | Focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base | None | Single counts only | Everything, slowly | Comfort + basic technique |
| 1 | 2 counts of 8 (up to 4 with repeated steps) | Single counts, rare half counts | Every step, every time | Learning 4–6 basic steps |
| 2 | 2–4 counts of 8, up to 6 steps | Half counts + triplets introduced | Frequent | Transitions between steps |
| 3 | 4–6 counts of 8 (+1 if low-density) | Quarter counts, triplets, syncopation | Occasional | Musicality + speed |
| 4 | 6–8 counts of 8 (+1 if low-density) | Layered timing, dynamics graded | Minimal | Fast pickup + full performance |
| 5 | 6+ counts of 8 | Full complexity incl. polyrhythms | None | Artistry + individuality |
